Writing and Speaking marks to points
Raters mark out of 36. The agency's table turns that mark into a score out of 75.
Task 2 carries twice the weight of Task 1: 24 of the 36 marks. When two raters mark the same work, their marks are averaged before the table is applied.
Correct answers to a level
Listening and Reading have 35 questions each.
Listening and Reading are scored with a statistical model that compares you with everyone in the session, so the points for a given number of correct answers move a little each time. These ranges are the agency's own guide.

What people ask before exam day
How is the Multilevel score calculated?
Each of the four sections is scored out of 75, and your level comes from the average of the four: 65 to 75 is C1, 51 to 64 is B2, 38 to 50 is B1, and below 38 is below B1.
What is the maximum Multilevel score?
75 in each section. The exam has no C2 tasks, so the agency stops its scale at 75 and C1 is the highest level it awards.
How many correct answers do I need for B2?
Around 18 to 27 of the 35 questions in Listening or Reading usually means B2, and 28 or more usually means C1. The exact points change a little from session to session.
How is Multilevel Writing marked?
Task 1 is worth 12 marks and Task 2 is worth 24. The raters' marks are averaged and the total out of 36 is converted to a score out of 75 with the agency's table.
Is a Multilevel B2 the same as IELTS 6.5?
Not exactly. The two exams are different tests, and a CEFR level does not convert precisely to a band. Prepare for the exam you will actually sit.
